1907. No. 81.

PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACTS 1903–1904.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that, on account of urgency, the following Regulations under the Defence Acts 1903–1904 should come into immediate operation, and make the Regulations to come into operation forthwith as Provisional Regulations.

Regulations for the Commonwealth Military Cadet Corps.

The Regulations for the Commonwealth Military Cadet Corps are amended by the following additions:—

After Regulation 61, add—

Section 6.—Mounted Cadets.

Establishment.

62.Mounted Cadets may be established in the several States of the Commonwealth as under:—

Formation.

63. Detachments shall consist of not less than 18 members (the establishment of a troop of Light Horse).

Regulations, &c.

64. The Regulations and Standing Orders for Senior Cadets will apply generally to Mounted Cadets.

A special standard, however, for age and height will be laid down.

Relation in Cadet Corps.

65. Mounted Cadets will be considered as distinct units, and not part of establishments laid down for Senior Cadet Battalions.

Drill.

66. Mounted Cadets will be attached for drill to such units of Light Horse as District Commandants may direct.

Uniform.

67. Uniform to be of a similar pattern as approved for Cadets (other than Senior Cadets) in the State where Mounted Cadets are raised. Pantaloons and leggings will be worn.

Horses and Saddlery

68. Each Mounted Cadet will provide his own horse and saddlery.
