Commonwealth Games Holiday Act 1981, No. 113 1171 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Commonwealth Games Holiday Act 1981. 2. Commonwealth Games holiday appointed . Thursday the thirtieth day of September 1982 shall be observed and kept throughout Queensland as a public holiday (hereinafter called the " Commonwealth Games holiday ") to celebrate the opening of the XIIth Commonwealth Games to be staged in Brisbane. 3. Application of provisions of other Acts. (1) The provisions of section 10 of " The Holidays Acts, 1912 to 1961 " shall apply to and with respect to the holiday appointed to be observed and kept by section 2 and for that purpose the Commonwealth Games holiday shall be deemed to be a holiday appointed by those Acts. (2) The provisions of subsection (3) of section 14 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1961-1980 shall apply and extend to and with respect to the holiday appointed to be observed and kept by section 2 and for that purpose the Commonwealth Games holiday shall be deemed to be named as a holiday in the list of holidays specified in the provisions of the said subsection commencing with the words "All work done ". (3) For the purpose of applying the provisions of orders made pursuant to Part VIIA of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1961-1980 in relation to the trading hours of shops (excluding exempted shops) on the Commonwealth Games holiday, that holiday shall be deemed to_ be named as a holiday in subsection (3) of section 14 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1961-1980 and subsection (2) of section 61 of the Factories and Shops .Act 1960-1975.
