Commerce (Imports) Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Commerce (Trade Descriptions) Act 1905.

1.   Amendment

1.1   The Commerce (Imports) Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

[Note: These Regulations commence on gazettal: see Acts Interpretation Act 1901, s. 48.]

2.   Regulation 5 (Interpretation)

2.1   Subregulation 5 (1) (definitions of “approved brand”, “bottle”, “bristle”, “compressed or liquefied gases”, “gold-plated”, “gilt”, “infants’ food”, “liquid chemicals”, “main display portion”, “poultry”, “preservative”, “resins”, “rolled gold”, “gold cased”):

Omit the definitions.

3.   Regulation 8 (Trade description—general requirements)

3.1   Paragraph 8 (c):

Omit “subject to subregulations 10 (7) and (8),”.

3.2   Paragraph 8 (d):

Omit “subject to regulation 20B,”.

4.   Regulation 9 (Trade description—additional requirements in certain cases)

4.1   Subregulation 9 (1):

Omit “10 to 20,”, substitute “11 to 20,”.

4.2   Subregulation 9 (2):

Omit the subregulation.

5.   Second Schedule (Standards)

5.1   Omit the Second Schedule.

6.   Other omissions

6.1   Omit the regulations mentioned in the following table:
