STATUTORY RULES.
REGULATIONS UNDER THE COMMERCE (TRADE DESCRIPTIONS) ACT 1905-1950.*
I, THE
GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations
under the

Amendments of the Commerce (Imports) Regulations.
“(
n )cigars, cigarettes, manufactured tobacco, cigarette papers and cigarette tubes;”.
“19a. In the case of cigars, cigarettes and manufactured tobacco imported for sale by retail, the name of the country in which the goods were made or produced shall appear in conspicuous characters not obscured by the colour of the background or dominated by other wording—
(
a )if the goods are imported in paper or cardboard packets (other than laubé boxes or pouch packets)—(i) on the front of the packets; and
(ii) if the words on the back of the packets are likely to mislead as to the country in which the goods were made or produced—on the back of the packets;
(
b )if the goods are imported in flat tins or laubé boxes—on the lid or front edge of the tins or boxes; or(
c ) if the goods are imported in round air-tight tins or cellophane or paper pouch packets—in a prominent position on the tins or packets.”.
