REGULATIONS UNDER THE CUSTOMS ACT 1901-1935 AND THE COMMERCE (TRADE DESCRIPTIONS) ACT 1905-1933.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Customs Act 1901-1935 and the Commerce (Trade Descriptions) Act 1905-1933.

Amendments of the Commerce (Export Dairy Produce) Regulations.  

Interpretation.

1. In these Regulations, any reference to a regulation shall be read as a reference to a regulation contained in the Commerce (Export Dairy Produce) Regulations, as amended to the date of commencement of these Regulations.

Definitions.

2. Regulation 4 is amended—-

(a) by inserting in the definition of “Creamery butter”, after the words “dairy butter,”, the words “whey butter,”;

(b) by inserting in the definition of “Dairy butter”, after the words “creamery butter,”, the words” whey butter,”; and

(c) by inserting after the definition of “the Secretary” the following definitions :—

“ ‘ Whey’ means the watery fluid of cows’ milk which is separated from the curd in the process of cheese manufacture;

“ ‘ Whey butter’ means butter manufactured wholly from milk fat centrifugally separated from whey;”.

Additional description for butter.

3. Regulation 18 is amended—

(a) by inserting in sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph A of sub-regulation (a), after the words “milled butter”, the words “and whey butter”;

(b) by inserting in sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph A of sub-regulation (a), after the words “milled butter”, the words “ and whey butter” ;and

(c) by inserting in paragraph B of sub-regulation (a), after the words “Pure Creamery Butter,”, the words “Whey Butter,”.

4. After regulation 43 the following regulation is inserted:—

Grade standards for whey butter.

“43a. Whey butter submitted for export shall be graded in accordance with the following standards:—

First grade—Pure butter graded at 89 to 91 points inclusive.

Second grade—Pure butter graded at 86 to 88 points inclusive.

Cooking grade—Pure butter graded at 80 to 85 points inclusive.”.
