Commencement Proclamation

under the

Justice Legislation Amendment Act (No 2) 2019 No 20

I, the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2(2) of the Justice Legislation Amendment Act

(No 2) 2019, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 19 March 2020 as the day on which Schedule

1.1, 1.11, 1.12, 1.21, 1.24 and 1.25 commence.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the following provisions of the Justice Legislation

Amendment Act (No 2) 2019—

(a)	amendments to the Bail Act 2013 relating to the making of bail decisions and the enforcement of bail requirements,
(b)	amendments to the Firearms Act 1996 and the Firearms Regulation 2017 relating to a person’s eligibility to hold a firearms licence or permit or to be involved in a firearms dealing business,
(c)	amendments to the Sheriff Act 2005 relating to the powers of sheriff’s officers when executing certain arrest warrants,
(d)	amendments to the Weapons Prohibition Act 1998 and the Weapons Prohibition Regulation 2017 relating to a person’s eligibility to hold a weapons permit.
