Commencement Proclamation

under the

Protection of the Environment Operations Amendment (Asbestos Waste)

Act 2018 No 80

I, the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, Governor of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Protection of the Environment

Operations Amendment (Asbestos Waste) Act 2018, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 20

December 2019 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act commence.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence an amendment to the Protection of the Environment

Operations Act 1997 that makes the presence of asbestos in the environment a matter to be considered in

imposing a penalty under that Act.
