Commencement Proclamation

under the

Residential Tenancies Amendment (Review) Act 2018 No 58

I, the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, Governor of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Residential Tenancies Amendment

(Review) Act 2018, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 23 March 2020 as the day on which the

uncommenced provisions of that Act commence.

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence all uncommenced provisions of the Residential Tenancies
Amendment (Review) Act 2018. The only provisions of that Act that have commenced relate to—
(a) the termination of residential tenancy agreements in circumstances of domestic violence, and

(b)

the liability of tenants for damage to premises that occurs during the commission of domestic violence offences, and

(c)

restrictions on the inclusion of personal information about tenants who are victims of domestic violence on residential tenancy databases.
