Commencement Proclamation

under the

Fair Trading Legislation Amendment (Miscellaneous) Act 2018 No 79

I, General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Fair Trading Legislation

Amendment (Miscellaneous) Act 2018, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 July 2019 as the

day on which Schedule 2 to that Act commences.

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence certain provisions of the Fair Trading Legislation
Amendment (Miscellaneous) Act 2018 that:

(a)

amend the Co-operative Housing and Starr-Bowkett Societies Act 1998 with respect to the formation and registration of co-operative housing societies and Starr-Bowkett societies, and the admission of new members to Starr-Bowkett societies, and

(b)

repeal the Innkeepers Act 1968 and the Prices Regulation Act 1948 and transfer certain provisions of those Acts that are to have ongoing effect to the Fair Trading Act 1987, and

(c)

repeal the Landlord and Tenant (Amendment) Act 1948 but provide for the continuing effect of the repealed Act, and

(d)

repeal the Rural Workers Accommodation Act 1969 and transfer certain provisions of that Act that are to have ongoing effect to the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, and to preserve certain codes of practice in force under the repealed Act immediately before its repeal.
