Commencement Proclamation

under the

Criminal Legislation Amendment (Child Sexual Abuse) Act 2018 No 33

DAVID HURLEY, Governor

I, General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Criminal Legislation

Amendment (Child Sexual Abuse) Act 2018, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 December

2018 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act commence.

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence all the remaining provisions of the Criminal Legislation
Amendment (Child Sexual Abuse) Act 2018, which will amend:

(a)

the Crimes Act 1900 to replace and create offences, increase penalties and improve prosecutions in relation to child sexual abuse offences, and

(b) other related criminal legislation.
