Commencement Proclamation

under the

Parole Legislation Amendment Act 2017 No 57

DAVID HURLEY, Governor

I, General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Parole Legislation

Amendment Act 2017, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 26 February 2018 as the day on which

the following provisions of that Act commence:

(a) Schedule 1 [1], [4]–[11], [13], [14], [17], [18], [20] and [34],
(b) Schedules 2–4.

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence amendments relating to the following:
(a) statutory parole orders for adult and juvenile offenders serving sentences of 3 years or less,
(b) revocation of parole of adult offenders and sanctions for breaches of parole by adult offenders,
(c) parole for juvenile offenders, including determining and revoking parole, reconsideration of parole decisions and parole conditions,
(d) parole orders by the Governor when exercising the prerogative of mercy for juvenile offenders,
(e) other consequential changes.
