Commencement Proclamation

under the

Criminal Legislation Amendment (Child Sexual Abuse) Act 2018 No 33

, Lieutenant-Governor

I, the Honourable Thomas Frederick Bathurst AC, Lieutenant-Governor of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Criminal Legislatio n Amendment (Child Sexual Abuse) Act 2018, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 31 August 2018 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:

(a)

Schedule 1 [1], [54]–[59] and [62] (but only to the extent that it inserts the clause headed “Application of section 316A”),

(b) Schedule 3 [4]–[6],

(c) Schedule 4 [1], [6], [12] and [15],

(d) Schedule 5.2 [5],

(e) Schedule 5.5,
(f) Schedule 5.12 [1].

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence new offences in sections 43B (Failure to reduce or remove risk of child becoming victim of child abuse) and 316A (Concealing child abuse offence) of the Crimes Act
1900 and provisions that relate to those new offences.
