Commencement Proclamation

under the

Liquor and Gaming Legislation Amendment Act 2018 No 7

I, General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Liquor and Gaming

Legislation Amendment Act 2018, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 2 July 2018 as the day on

which the uncommenced provisions of that Act commence.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the uncommenced provisions of the Liquor and Gaming

Legislation Amendment Act 2018, which contain amendments to:

(a) the Betting and Racing Act 1998 and the Betting and Racing Regulation 2012 relating to:

(i)         gambling advertising and inducements, and

(ii)       the personal executive liability of directors and other corporate officers as a consequence of corporate offences under that Act, and

(b) the Totalizator Act 1997 and the Totalizator Regulation 2012 to strengthen provisions prohibiting the offering of inducements to gamble and certain forms of gambling advertisements and totalizator advertisements.
