Commencement Proclamation

under the

Parole Legislation Amendment Act 2017 No 57

DAVID HURLEY, Governor

I, General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Parole Legislation

Amendment Act 2017, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 20 November 2017 as the day on

which Schedule 1 [12], [15], [16], [21], [23], [38]–[40] and [42] of that Act commence.

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence amendments made by the Parole Legislation Amendment
Act 2017 relating to the following:
(a) the imposition of a community safety test for determining whether to release an adult offender on parole,
(b) enabling the Governor to exercise the prerogative of mercy by making a parole order in respect of an adult offender,
(c) imposing a duty on health service providers to provide information about adult offenders’ compliance with certain conditions of parole relating to obtaining health services,
(d) the provision of information to registered victims,
(e) savings and transitional provisions.
