Commencement Proclamation

under the

Crimes (Administration of Sentences) Amendment Act 2016 No 47

DAVID HURLEY, Governor

I, General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales, with
the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Crimes (Administration
of Sentences) Amendment Act 2016, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 28 August 2017 as the

day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act (other than Schedule 1 [17]) commence.

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence provisions of the Crimes (Administration of Sentences)
Amendment Act 2016 that transfer certain powers and associated offences relating to places of detention in
Part 4A of the Summary Offences Act 1988 to new Part 13A of the Crimes (Administration of Sentences)
Act 1999 and that make consequential amendments.
