Commencement Proclamation

under the

Greyhound Racing Act 2017 No 13

DAVID HURLEY, Governor

I, General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales, with
the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 (1) of the Greyhound Racing
Act 2017, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 3 July 2017 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:

(a)	Parts 1–3,
(b)	Division 1 of Part 4,
(c)	Division 2 of Part 4 (other than section 39),
(d)	sections 90, 92, 93, 97–99, 101 and 102,
(e)	Schedules 1–4, 6.1, 6.2 [2], [3] and [6], 7.6 and 7.9,
(f)	Schedule 8 to the extent that it repeals the Greyhound Racing Prohibition Act 2016.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence those provisions of the Greyhound Racing Act 2017 that constitute the Greyhound Welfare Integrity Commission, reconstitute Greyhound Racing NSW and

establish the Greyhound Industry Animal Welfare Committee. Certain machinery provisions and
amendments relating to animal welfare are also commenced.
