Commencement Proclamation

under the

Regulatory and Other Legislation (Amendments and Repeals) Act 2016

No 60

I, General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales, with
the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 (2) of the Regulatory and Other

Legislation (Amendments and Repeals) Act 2016, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint:

(a) 16 December 2016 as the day on which Schedule 1 to that Act commences, and
(b) 30 January 2017 as the day on which Schedule 2.7 to that Act commences.

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence:
(a) on 16 December 2016, provisions of the Regulatory and Other Legislation (Amendments and Repeals) Act 2016 (the amending Act) amending the Property, Stock and Business Agents Act 2002:

(i)         to ensure that certain controls applying to property, stock and business agents extend to staff engaged under non-traditional employment arrangements, and

(ii)       to ensure that property, stock and business agents may only engage staff who are appropriately licensed or registered, and

(iii)      to ensure that persons engaged by property, stock and business agents are properly supervised and comply with the requirements of the Property, Stock and Business Agents Act 2002, and

(b) on 30 January 2017, the provision of the amending Act amending the Residential Tenancies Act 2010 to encourage the use of the online rental bond service.
