Commencement Proclamation

under the

Home Building Amendment Act 2014 No 24

DAVID HURLEY, Governor

I, General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC, Governor of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Home Building Amendment Act 2014, do, by this my Proclamation:

(a) appoint 31 December 2014 as the day on which Schedule 1 [86] to that Act commences, and

(b)

appoint 15 January 2015 as the day on which Schedule 1 [1]–[8], [20], [21], [28]–[63], [67]–[85], [87]–[125], [126] (to the extent that it inserts Schedule 3 to the Home Building Act 1989) and [127]–[129] and Schedule 2 to that Act commence, and

(c) appoint 1 March 2015 as the day on which the remainder of that Act commences.

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence the Home Building Amendment Act 2014 in three stages, as follows:
(a) an amendment that omits a provision about the operation of contracts of insurance commences on 31 December 2014,
(b) amendments relating to contracts to do residential building work or supply kit homes (including the terms of such contracts, consumer information, cooling-off periods, deposits and progress payments), statutory warranties and improper conduct commence on 1 March 2015,
(c) the remaining amendments commence on 15 January 2015.
