Commencement Proclamation

under the

Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2014 No 16

MARIE BASHIR, Governor I, Professor The Honourable Dame Marie Bashir AD, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2014, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 July 2014 as the day on which:

(a)

the following provisions of the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2014 commence:

(i) Part 1,
(ii) Division 1 of Part 2 (except section 9),
(iii) section 10, and
(b) the following provisions of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW) commence:
(i) Chapter 1,
(ii) Chapter 8 (except Part 8.5 and sections 412 (2), 414 and 415 in Part 8.6),
(iii) Part 9.4,
(iv) sections 467, 468 and 476 in Part 9.9,
(v) Schedules 1 and 2,
(vi) clause 8 of Schedule 4.

Explanatory note

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence formal and ancillary provisions of the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2014 and the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW) relating to the establishment of and appointments to the Legal Services Council, the office of the Commissioner for Uniform Legal Services Regulation and the Admissions Committee.

Section 4 of the Act provides that the Legal Profession Uniform Law set out in Schedule 1 to the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2014 of Victoria applies as a law of New South Wales and as so applying may be referred to as the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW).
