Commencement Proclamation

under the

Marine Safety Act 1998 No 121

THOMAS FREDERICK BATHURST, Lieutenant-Governor I, the Honourable Thomas Frederick Bathurst, Lieutenant-Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Marine Safety Act 1998, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 2 June 2014 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act (other than those listed below) commence:

(a) Schedule 2 to the extent that it repeals the following:
(i) the Maritime Services Act 1935,
(ii) the Management of Waters and Waterside Lands Regulations—N.S.W.,
(iii) the Port Authority—Land Traffic Control Regulations—N.S.W.,
(b) Schedule 3.7 [10] and [15].

Explanatory note
The object of this Proclamation is to commence the following provisions of the Marine Safety Act 1998:
(a) a provision that repeals the Navigation Act 1901,
(b) provisions (Schedule 3.7 [3], [5], [6] and [8]) that make amendments to the Ports and Maritime Administration Act 1995,
(c) a savings provision (clause 6 of Schedule 4) that continues the application of section 34 of the Maritime Services Act 1935 after its repeal.
