Commencement Proclamation

under the

Protection of the Environment Operations Amendment (Illegal Waste
Disposal) Act 2013 No 60

MARIE BASHIR, Governor I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Protection of the Environment Operations Amendment (Illegal Waste Disposal) Act 2013, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 October 2013 as the day on which that Act (except Schedule 1 [1]) commences.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence all the provisions of the Protection of the Environment Operations Amendment (Illegal Waste Disposal) Act 2013 other than Schedule 1 [1] to that Act. Schedule 1 [1] amends section 88 of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 to remove the exemption from payment of the contribution by licensees of waste facilities used for the re-using, recovering, recycling or processing of waste other than liquid waste. Regulations may be made under section 88 to provide for such exemption.
