Commencement Proclamation

under the

Primary Industries Legislation Amendment (Biosecurity)
Act 2012 No 31

THOMAS FREDERICK BATHURST, Lieutenant-Governor I, the Honourable Thomas Frederick Bathurst, Lieutenant-Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 (2) of the Primary Industries Legislation Amendment (Biosecurity) Act 2012, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 10 September 2012 as the day on which Schedule 1 to that Act commences.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence Schedule 1 to the Primary Industries Legislation Amendment (Biosecurity) Act 2012 (the amending Act), which contains amendments to the Animal Diseases (Emergency Outbreaks) Act 1991. All other provisions of the amending Act commenced on assent. The amendments contained in Schedule 1 include mechanisms to deal with emergency outbreaks of animal pests, such as the declaration of infested places, restricted areas and control areas and accompanying restrictions on movement, and orders relating to control and eradication of animal pests.
