Commencement Proclamation

under the

Business Names (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2011 No 44

MARIE BASHIR, Governor I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Business Names (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2011, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 10 October 2011 as the day on which that Act (other than Schedules 2 and 3) commences.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the provisions of the Business Names (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2011 that refer certain matters to the Parliament of the Commonwealth under section 51 (xxxvii) of the Commonwealth Constitution and that provide for savings and transitional matters. Schedules 2 and 3 to the Act, which are not commenced, provide for the repeal and consequential amendment of certain legislation after Commonwealth legislation is enacted pursuant to the reference.
