Commencement Proclamation

under the

Personal Property Securities (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2009
No 35

MARIE BASHIR, Governor I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 (2) of the Personal Property Securities (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2009, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 9 October 2009 as the day on which section 6 (2) of that Act commences.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence section 6 (2) of the Personal Property Securities (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2009 so as to refer certain additional matters concerning security interests in personal property to the Commonwealth Parliament under section 51 (xxxvii) of the Constitution of the Commonwealth. The matters referred will enable the Commonwealth Parliament to make amendments to the proposed Personal Property Securities Act 2009 of the Commonwealth concerning security interests in personal property (other than fixtures and water rights).
