Commencement Proclamation

under the

Motor Accidents Compensation Amendment Act 2009 No 26

MARIE BASHIR, Governor I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Motor Accidents Compensation Amendment Act 2009, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint:

(a)	1 October 2009 as the day on which Schedules 1 [12] and 2 to that Act commence, and
(b)	1 April 2010 as the day on which the remainder of that Act commences.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence on 1 October 2009 the provisions of the Motor Accidents Compensation Amendment Act 2009 relating to refunds of amounts that are contributed to the Motor Accidents Authority Fund and the Lifetime Care and Support Authority Fund and to commence on 1 April 2010 the remaining uncommenced provisions of the amending Act, which relate to the early payment scheme (for treatment and lost earnings of injured persons).
