Commencement Proclamation

under the

Community Justice Centres Amendment Act 2007 No 70

MARIE BASHIR, Governor I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 (2) of the Community Justice Centres Amendment Act 2007, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 25 May 2009 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:

(a)	Schedule 1 [20], [30] and [32],
(b)	Schedule 2.1 and 2.2.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence certain amendments made by the Community Justice Centres Amendment Act 2007 to the Community Justice Centres Act 1983 dealing with the following matters:

(a)	enabling the Director of Community Justice Centres to accept a dispute for mediation that has been referred by a court or tribunal without the consent of all the parties to the dispute,

(b)	to require mediators under the Community Justice Centres Act 1983 to report to the Director-General of the Department of Community Services information obtained during the exercise of their mediation functions about children at risk of harm.
