Code of Practice for Powerline Clearance
(Vegetation) Regulations 1996

1. Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to provide for practices relating to the maintenance of private electric lines and the keeping of the whole or any part of a tree clear of power lines and to prescribe the Code of Practice for Powerline Clearance (Vegetation) for this purpose.

These Regulations are made under section 65 of the State Electricity Commission Act 1958.

5. Variation of point of supply

A distribution company which makes a determination under section 59(1) of the Act must notify the responsible person in writing of the determination and include the following information within the notice—

(a)	the definition of point of supply contained in the Act; and
(b)	the power under which a distribution company can make a determination to vary the point of supply; and
(c)	details of the determination made by the distribution company to vary the point of supply including reasons for the

determination; and

(d) the right of the responsible person to object to the chief electrical inspector within 21 days of receipt of the notification of the determination on the grounds that the determination is not reasonable.

NOTES

1.  General Information

The Code of Practice for Powerline Clearance (Vegetation) Regulations
1996, S.R. No. 111/1996 were made on 22 October 1996 by the Governor in
Council under section 65 of the State Electricity Commission Act 1958,
No. 6377 and came into operation on 22 October 1996.

The Code of Practice for Powerline Clearance (Vegetation) Regulations 1996 will sunset 10 years after the day of making on 22 October 2006 (see section 5 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1994).
