Act No. 71, 1987

An Act to amend the Coal Mines Regulation Act 1982 to increase penalties

for offences under that Act. [Assented to 10 June 1987]

Coal Mines Regulation (Workers Compensation) Amendment 1987

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the "Coal Mines Regulation (Workers

Compensation) Amendment Act 1987".

Commencement

2. (1) Sections 1 and 2 shall commence on the date of assent to this

Act.

(2) Except as provided by subsection (1), this Act shall commence on such day as may be appointed by the Governor and notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.

Amendment of Act No. 67, 1982

3. The Coal Mines Regulation Act 1982 is amended in the manner set

forth in Schedule I.

(Sec. 3)

AMENDMENTS TO THE COAL MINES REGULATION ACT 1982

(1) Section 147 (Tourist activities in mines or use of mines for educational

purposes not allowed without a permit)—

Omit "$500", insert instead "$1,000".

(2) Section 166 (Penalties)—

(a) Section 166 (1) (a)—
Omit "$2,000". insert instead "$4,000".
