AN ACT to amend the Coal Mines Regulation Act

1946.

[Assented to 25 March 1985.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Coal Mines Regulation Amendment Act 1985.	and principal
Act.

(2) In this Act, the Coal Mines Regulation Act 1946 is referred to as the principal Act.	authorised on 2 September

Section 5

amended. 2. Section 5 of the principal Act is amended

(a) by deleting the definition of "boy"; and

(b) by inserting, after the definition of "inspector", the following definition-

" "junior" means a person under the

age of 19 years; ".

Section 24

amended. 3. Section 24 of the principal Act is amended

(a) by repealing subsection (1) and substitut- ing the following subsection

CC (1) No junior who is under the age

that is defined in the Education Act 1928 to be the leaving age for the time being shall be employed in or about a mine. "; and

(b) in subsections (2), (3) and (6) by deleting "boy" and in each case substituting the following-

" junior ".

Section 25

amended. 4.

Section 25 of the principal Act is amended by deleting "boys over fourteen years of age employed in the mine below ground, and of all boys employed above ground in connection with the mine," and substituting the following-

" juniors employed in or about a mine, ".

Section 25A

amended. 5. Section 25A of the principal Act is amended

by deleting "boy" and substituting the following-

" junior ".

6. The provisions of the principal Act referred Yeti:to:ass

(a) in Schedule 1 to this section, are amended by deleting "men" in each place where it occurs and substituting the following-

" persons "; and

(b) in Schedule 2 to this section, are amended by deleting "boys" in each place where it occurs and substituting the following

"juniors ".
