An Ordinance to amend the Co-operative Societies Ordinance 1939

Short title

1.  This Ordinance may be cited as the Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Ordinance (No. 2) 1985.¹

Principal Ordinance

2.  In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the Co-operative Societies Ordinance 1939.²

Purchase or repayment of shares

3.  Section 25 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (3) all the words from and including “give his consent” to and including “could” and substituting “consent to a proposed purchase or repayment if the Registrar is satisfied that the purchase or repayment would”.

Investments in corporations

4.  Section 37A of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (4) “where, in his opinion,” and substituting “if the Registrar is satisfied that”.

Notification of decision

5.  Section 80B of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (3) “this section” and substituting “sub-section (2)”.
