Co-operative Housing Societies Amendment Act 2000

An Act to amend the Co-operative Housing Societies Act 1963

[Royal Assent 31 May 2000]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Co-operative Housing Societies Amendment Act 2000 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on a day to be proclaimed. 3Principal ActIn this Act, the Co-operative Housing Societies Act 1963 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Section 2 amended (Interpretation) Section 2(1) of the Principal Act is amended as follows: (a) by omitting " section 12B ;" from the definition of supervision levy and substituting " section 12B ."; (b) by omitting the definition of TOFS . 5Section 3 amended (Registrar and other officers) Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended as follows: (a) by omitting from subsection (1) "Chief Executive Officer of TOFS" and substituting "Secretary of the Department"; (b) by omitting subsection (2) and substituting the following subsection: (2)  The Secretary of the Department may – (a) appoint a person to be the Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Housing Societies; and (b) appoint a person to be an officer for the purposes of this Act; and (c) enter into a contractual arrangement with an appropriate body to undertake the duties of the Registrar required by this Act. (c) by inserting in subsection (4) "or a body with whom the Secretary of the Department has entered into a contractual arrangement under subsection (2)(c) " after "Deputy Registrar"; (d) by inserting in subsection (5) ", or a body with whom the Secretary of the Department has entered into a contractual arrangement under subsection (2)(c) ," after "Deputy Registrar". 6Section 12B amended (Supervision levy) Section 12B of the Principal Act is amended by omitting subsection (12) . 7Section 82A repealed Section 82A of the Principal Act is repealed. 8SubstitutionsEach of the provisions of the Principal Act specified in Column 1 of Schedule 1 is amended by omitting the words or symbols specified in Column 2 of that Schedule and substituting the words or symbols specified in Column 3 of that Schedule .
