CLEAN AIR ACT 1961—REGULATION

(Relating to burning of refuse)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Clean Air Act 1961, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 1 January 1991.

Amendment

2. The Clean Air (Control of Refuse Burning) Regulation 1988 is

amended:

(a)

by inserting in Part 1 of Schedule 1 in alphabetical order the following words:

Wagga Wagga (being that part which consists of land that is

within the City of Wagga Wagga garbage scavenging district)

(b)

by inserting in Part 3 of Schedule 1 in alphabetical order the following words:

Hornsby (being that part which consists of land that is within

the Shire of Hornsby garbage scavenging district)

Sutherland Warringah

(c)

by omitting from Part 3 of Schedule 2 the word "Hornsby" and by inserting instead the following words:

Hornsby (other than that part which consists of land that is

within the Shire of Hornsby garbage scavenging district)

(d) by omitting from Part 3 of Schedule 2 the words "Sutherland" and

"Warringah";

(e)

by omitting from Part 1 of Schedule 3 the matter relating to Wagga Wagga.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to impose further restrictions on burning:

(a) in the Shires of Sutherland and Warringah; and

(b) in garbage scavenging districts within the City of Wagga Wagga and the

Shire of Hornsby.

Burning will be prohibited in these areas except for approved purposes (such as

cooking or recreation) or in certain industrial-grade incinerators.
