The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Amendment (R 18+ Computer Games) Act 2012.

2Commencement

This Act commences on 1 January 2013.

3Schedule(s)

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

insert:

Paragraph 20(1)(b)

Omit “or MA 15+”, substitute “, MA 15+ or R 18+”.

Subsection 42(5) (paragraph (c) of the definition of restricted decision)

After “MA 15+”, insert “, R 18+”.

Application of amendments

The amendments to the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act 1995 made by this Part apply in relation to:

1. (a)

   a decision of the Board; and

2. (b)

   a decision of the Review Board;

that is made on or after the day this Schedule commences (including a decision in relation to an application that was made before that day).

   Subclause 30(4) of Schedule 7 (paragraph (b) of the definition of restricted classification)

   After “MA 15+”, insert “, R 18+”.
