CIVIL SERVICE (AMENDMENT) ACT.

An Act to increase the superannuation allow­ ances payable under the Civil Service Acts; for this purpose to amend the Civil Service Act, 1884, and certain other Acts; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 25th March, 1957.]

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the "Civil Service (Amendment) Act, 1957."
(2) This Act shall be deemed to have commenced upon the first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-six.

(3) This Act shall be read and construed with the

Civil Service Acts.
2. In this Act—

"Civil Service A c t s " include the Civil Service Act, 1884, the Public Service Act, 1902, the Public Service (Superannuation) Act, 1903, and the Civil Service (Amendment) Act, 1953.

3. Any superannuation allowance payable at the commencement of this Act to any person under the Civil Service Acts shall as from such commencement be increased by one-sixth, or by an amount equivalent to twenty-six pounds per annum, whichever is the greater, and any reference in the Civil Service Acts (the Civil Service (Amendment) Act, 1953, excepted) to any superannuation allowance shall be read and construed as a reference to such superannuation allowance as so
