CIVIL SERVICE (AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act No. 11, 1953.

An Act to increase the superannuation allow­ ances payable under the Civil Service Acts; for this purpose to amend the Civil Service Act, 1884, and certain other Acts; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 25th September, 1953.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­ lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the "Civil Service (Amendment) Act, 1953".

(2) This Act shall be deemed to have commenced upon the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-three.

(3) This Act shall bo read and construed with the Civil Service Acts.

2. In this Act—

"Civil Service Ac t s " include the Civil Service Act, 1884, the Public Service Act, 1902, and the Public Service (Superannuation) Act, 1903.

3. Where any superannuation allowance is at the date on which the assent of Her Majesty to this Act is signi­ fied payable to any person under the Civil Service Acts such superannuation allowance shall as from the com­ mencement of this Act be increased by one-fifth, or by an amount equivalent to twenty-six pounds per annum, whichever is the greater, and any reference in the Civil Service Acts to any such superannuation allowance shall be read and construed as a reference to such super­ annuation allowance as so increased.
