Civil Aviation Order 108.50 Instrument 2007

1          Name of instrument

This instrument is the Civil Aviation Order 108.50 Instrument 2007.

2          Commencement

This instrument commences on the day after it is registered.

3          New Civil Aviation Order 108.50

Civil Aviation Order 108.50 is repealed and a new Civil Aviation Order 108.50 substituted as set out in Schedule 1.

Requirements — anti-collision lights

1          Installation and performance of anti-collision lights

This Order contains directions and specifications relating to anti-collision lights under subregulations 196 (3) and (5) of CAR 1988.

2          Direction — display of anti-collision lights

An aeroplane in flight or operating on the manoeuvring area of a land aerodrome must display anti-collision lights consistent with:

(a)   the requirements of Technical Standard Order C96a issued by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States of America as in force at the time of installation of the anti-collision lights (the FAA standard); or

(b)   a standard acceptable to CASA.

3          Specification — colour and intensity of anti-collision lights

The colour and intensity of the anti-collision lights mentioned in section 2 must be consistent with:

(a)   the FAA standard; or

(b)   a standard acceptable to CASA.

  1. Saving

Anti-collision lights installed on an aircraft immediately before the commencement of this Order that meet the requirements of Civil Aviation Order 108.50 as in force immediately before the commencement are taken to meet a standard acceptable to CASA.
