I, WILLIAM PATRICK DEANE, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Civil Aviation Act 1988.

1Name of Regulations

 These Regulations are the Civil Aviation Amendment Regulations 2000 (No. 8).

2Commencement

 These Regulations commence on gazettal.

3Amendment of Civil Aviation Regulations 1988

Schedule 1 amends the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988.

(regulation 3)

[1]Subregulation 2 (1), definition of flying training area

substitute

flying training area, in relation to an aerodrome, means an area that is specified in a flying school’s operations manual as the flying training area for the aerodrome.

[2]Regulation 141

substitute

141Low flying etc in flying training areas

  • (1)

    CASA may authorise low flying or acrobatic flying over a specified part of a flying training area for the purposes of flying training.

  • (2)

    A person must not engage in low flying or acrobatic flying in a flying training area for the purposes of flying training except in accordance with an authorisation issued under subregulation (1).

Penalty:   50 penalty units.
