1Name of Regulations

 These Regulations are the Civil Aviation Amendment Regulations 2000 (No. 7).

2Commencement

 These Regulations commence on gazettal.

3Amendment of Civil Aviation Regulations 1988

Schedule 1 amends the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988.

[1]Subregulation 2 (1), both definitions of air traffic

substitute

air traffic means aircraft:

  • (a)

    in flight; or

  • (b)

    operating on the manoeuvring area of an aerodrome.

[2]Subregulation 2 (1), definition of Air Traffic Control

air traffic control means:

  • (a)

    AA in its capacity as a provider of air traffic control services; or

  • (b)

    the Defence Force in its capacity as a provider of air traffic control services.

[3]Subregulation 2 (1), definition of air traffic control service

substitute

air traffic control service means a service provided for the purpose of:

  • (a)

    preventing collisions:

    • (i)

      between aircraft; and

    • (ii)

      on the manoeuvring area between aircraft and obstructions; and

  • (b)

    expediting and maintaining an orderly flow of air traffic.

Note   The definition is essentially that in Annex 11, Air Traffic Services, to the Chicago Convention.
