SUPERANNUATION (AMEND-
MENTS AUTHORISATION).

AN ACT to authorise certain amendments of a Scheme for Superannuation established by the City of Perth under the City of Perth Superan- nuation Fund Act, 1934.

Preamble.
WHEREAS the City of Perth did on the first day of " March one thousand nine hundred and thirty- seven by virtue and in pursuance of Section Eight of the City of Perth Superannuation Fund Act, 1934, adopt a scheme for the establishment of a Superannuation Fund for the purpose of providing superannuation benefits for salaried officers and wages employees of the Council; and whereas the said Scheme has been amended from time to time by divers Acts; and whereas it is desired that further amendments be made to the said Scheme; be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the

Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia in this present Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows:—
1. This Act may be cited as the City of Perth Short title.
Scheme for Superannuation (Amendments Authori-
sation) Act, 1956.
| In this Act "The Scheme for Superannuation" means the Scheme for Superannuation established by the City of Perth under the City of Perth Super- annuation Fund Act, 1934, as amended on the Eighth day of March, 1955, pursuant to the powers conferred on the City of Perth by the City of Perth Scheme for Superannuation (Amendments Authorisation) Act, 1954, and as set forth in the Schedule to that Act. | Definition |

3. The Scheme for Superannuation may be 2=d
amended in the following manner:
(1) Amend paragraph 2 (1) (d) by deleting
the word and letter "and (d)" in line three.
Amend paragraph 2 (1) (d) (iii) by deleting the letters "(A)" in lines four and five and inserting the letters "(a)" in lieu thereof.
(2)
(3) By adding the following subparagraph to
paragraph 2 (1) :—
| (e) | In addition to the contributions to be made by the Council to the Super- annuation Fund under subparagraphs (b) and (d) hereof the Council shall also contribute to the said Fund the sum of £5,850 with interest at £31% per annum the said sum and interest to be paid by ten equal yearly instal- ments of £690 each the first of such instalments to be paid within one month from the date when this amend- ment comes into operation. |

(4) Amend paragraph 8 (1) (c) by deleting the words "be forty-sixtieths but shall" in line two.
This amendment shall operate as from the
1st day of August, 1956.
Delete the words "Widows of Wages Employees" appearing between paragraph 8 (3) (B) and paragraph 8 (3) (C) and insert the said words before paragraph 8 (4).

(6) By adding the following paragraph after
paragraph 8A:-
8B. When a wages employee is promoted to be an officer during his contributing service he shall on becoming entitled to a superannuation allowance as an officer under paragraph 8 of the Scheme be entitled to an additional allowance based on the following formula viz.:—
A proportion of the allowance pay- able to a wages employee in the same ratio as the number of years during which he was a contributor as a wages employee bears to the total number of years of his contributing service up to the age of 65 years.
This paragraph shall operate as from
the 1st day of August, 1955.
Operation.
4. The Scheme for Superannuation as amended in the manner authorised by this Act shall only be brought into operation if and when the provisions of sections five to eight inclusive of the City of Perth Superannuation Fund Act, 1934, shall have been complied with as if such amended scheme were a proposition for a scheme within the meaning of section five of the said Act.
