910 City of Brisbane Act Amendment Act (No. 2) 1982, No. 68 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title . (1) This Act may be cited as the City of Brisbane Act Amendment Act 1982 (No. 2). (2) In this Act the City of Brisbane Act1924-1982, being the Cityof Brisbane Act1924-1980 as amended by the City of Brisbane ActAmendment Act1982 is referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the City of Brisbane Act1924-1982. 2. Amendment of s. 44 . Rating powers. Section 44 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) inserting after the proviso to the first paragraph the following paragraphs:- " The Council may, in a resolution making a general rate- (a) determine in relation to the City the minimum amount of the general rate to be levied by it in respect of rateable lands within the City; and (b) where a determination is made under subparagraph (a), determine to exempt rateable land of any specified class from the minimum general rate levy determined under that subparagraph. Where a rate notice issued in respect of particular land in respect of which the minimum general rate is applicable is for other than the whole of a year, such rate notice shall show the part of the minimum general rate payable for that period as a proportion of the minimum general rate payable per annum."; (b) in the paragraph commencing with the words " Provided further," omitting the words " six per centum per annum calculated at simple interest " and substituting the words " fourteen per centum per annum calculated at compound interest or such other rate as the Governor in Council may from time to time by Order in Council determine (he being hereby thereunto authorised) ".
