1  Name

This instrument is the Christmas Island Utilities and Services (Vehicle Examination Fees) Determination 2019.

3  Authority

This instrument is made under paragraph 7(2)(a) of the Christmas Island Utilities and Services Ordinance 2016.

4  Definitions

In this instrument:

heavy vehicle has the same meaning as in regulation 12 of the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014 (WA)(CI).

motor carrier has the same meaning as in regulation 86 of the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014 (WA)(CI).

motor cycle has the same meaning as in regulation 3 of the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014 (WA)(CI).

trailer has the same meaning as in regulation 3 of the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014 (WA)(CI).

5  Fees

(1)  For the purposes of paragraph 7(2)(a) of the Christmas Island Utilities and Services Ordinance 2016, the following fees may be charged for the supply of vehicle examination services, in Christmas Island, that consist of an examination for the purposes of the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Act 2012 (WA)(CI).

(a) first examination—$198.40;

(b) subsequent examination—$130.25

4 Any vehicle covered by table item 1, 2 or 3 verifying the vehicle’s identity or specifications—$140.30

(2)  The fees determined by this instrument apply from and including 1 July 2022.

(3)  To avoid doubt, nothing in this instrument prevents the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Act 2012 (WA)(CI) or the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014 (WA)(CI) from applying in relation to a fee set out in the above table as if it were a fee payable under Subdivision 1 of Division 8 of Part 2 of those regulations.
