This instrument is the
Christmas Island (Courts) Regulations 2018 .
(1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Note: This table relates only to the provisions of this instrument as originally made. It will not be amended to deal with any later amendments of this instrument.

This instrument is made under the
Christmas Island Act 1958 .
Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.
In this instrument:
Act means theChristmas Island Act 1958 .
For the purposes of paragraph (i) of the definition of
court of Western Australia in subsection 4(1) of the Act, the following courts and tribunals are specified:
(a) the Magistrates Court of Western Australia established by the
Magistrates Court Act 2004 (WA);(b) the State Administrative Tribunal established by the
State Administrative Tribunal Act 2004 (WA);(c) the Building Commissioner designated under the
Building Services (Complaint Resolution and Administration) Act 2011 (WA);(d) the Chief Assessor of Criminal Injuries Compensation, or an Assessor of Criminal Injuries Compensation, appointed under Schedule 1 to the
Criminal Injuries Compensation Act 2003 (WA);(e) the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission continued in existence under the
Industrial Relations Act 1979 (WA);(f) the Western Australian Industrial Appeal Court continued in existence under the
Industrial Relations Act 1979 (WA);(g) an industrial magistrate’s court established under the
Industrial Relations Act 1979 (WA);(h) the Director of Liquor Licensing referred to in the
Liquor Control Act 1988 (WA);(i) the Liquor Commission established under the
Liquor Control Act 1988 (WA);(j) a Court of Disputed Returns constituted under the
Local Government Act 1995 (WA);(k) a warden’s court established under the
Mining Act 1978 (WA);(l) a dispute resolution authority within the meaning of the
Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981 (WA).
For the purposes of paragraph (d) of the definition of
court officer of Western Australia in subsection 4(1) of the Act, the following offices are specified:
(a) the offices of President, Deputy President, non‑judicial member (ordinary member and senior member) and executive officer of the State Administrative Tribunal;
(b) the offices of President, Chief Commissioner, Senior Commissioner and commissioner of the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission;
(c) the offices of chairperson and member of the Liquor Commission;
(d) the offices of State Coroner, Deputy State Coroner, coroner and coroner’s investigator under the
Coroners Act 1996 (WA);(e) the office of Justice of the Peace under the
Justices of the Peace Act 2004 (WA);(f) the office of warden of mines under the
Mining Act 1978 (WA).
Repeal the instrument.
