445 Qunnsfanbr ANNO VICESIMO QUARTO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE No. 37 of 1975 An Act to amend the Chiropodists Act 1969 in certain particulars [ASSENTED TO 1ST OCTOBER, 19751 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same , as follows:- 1. Short title . (1) This Act may be cited as the Chiropodists Act Amendment Act 1975. (2) In this Act the Chiropodists Act1969 is referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Chiropodists Act1969-1975. 2. Amendment of s. 6. Section 6 of the. Principal Act is amended by in subsection (1)- (a) inserting after the word " Gazette " the following subparagraph:- " A person eligible for appointment to the Board is one who will not have attained the age of 70 years at the date of his appointment." ;
446 Chiropodists Act Amendment Act 1975, No. 37 (b) omitting the words " The persons eligible for appointment shall be-" and substituting the words "The members of the Board shall consist of-": (c) inserting after the words " three chiropodists " the words " each of whom is a person eligible for appointment to the Board ". 3. Amendment of s. 8 . Section 8 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting from subsection (1) the second paragraph and substituting the following paragraph:- " A member of the Board shall be eligible for re-appointment if he is eligible for appointment to the Board and is qualified as prescribed to be nominated."; (b) omitting from subsection (2) provision (a) and substituting the following provision:- (a) attains the age of 70 years, dies or is mentally ill ;". 4. Repeal of and new s. 12. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 12 and substituting the following section:- " 12. Allowances and expenses of members . (1) Such allowances as are prescribed shall be paid to every member of the Board, save to a member who is an officer of the Public Service of Queensland in respect of his attendance at a meeting of the Board during his ordinary hours of duty as such an officer. (2) Every member of the Board shall be paid out of pocket expenses necessarily incurred by him in attending meetings of the Board or in connexion with the discharge by him of any function as a member of the Board and approved by the Board.". 5. Repeal of and new s. 17. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 17 and substituting the following section:- " V. Qualification for registration . (1) Subject to this Act, a person shall be entitled to be registered as a chiropodist if he applies to the Board in or to the effect of the prescribed form, pays the prescribed fee for registration and satisfies the Board that he is of good fame and character and that- (a) he is -the holder of a degree, diploma or certificate (in each case recognized by the Board and obtained after due examination) in chiropody of a prescribed institution; or (b) he has undertaken prescribed training in chiropody and that he is the holder of a current certificate of registration as a chiropodist issued by the prescribed registration authority and that he is competent to practice chiropody; or (c) he had engaged in Queensland in the practice of chiropody before the passing of this Act and for two years at the least during the period of three years immediately preceding the date of commencement of this Act and that he is competent to practise chiropody.
Chiropodists Act Amendment Act 1975 , No. 37 447 (2) In this section- (a) the expression " prescribed institution " means a university, college or other body recognized in the State, Territory or country (being a State or Territory of the Commonwealth of Australia, or Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, or the Dominion of New Zealand) wherein it is situated and by the Board as authorized to grant a degree, diploma or certificate in chiropody; (b) the expression " prescribed training " means a course of training recognized by the Board as adequate training and accepted by a prescribed institution in the State, Territory or country wherein the course is offered as a training in chiropody sufficient to entitle a person who successfully undertakes it to a degree, diploma or certificate in chiropody granted by that prescribed institution; and (c) the expression " prescribed registration authority " means the authority recognized in a State or Territory of the Commonwealth of Australia, or Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland or the Dominion of New Zealand and by the Board as authorized to issue a certificate of registration as a chiropodist."
