Children’s Services (Amendment) Ordinance 1987

An Ordinance to amend the Children’s Services Ordinance 1986

Short title

1.  This Ordinance may be cited as the  Children’s Services  (Amendment) Ordinance 1987.1

Repeal and savings

2.  Section 3 of the Children’s Services Ordinance 1986 is amended:

(a)by omitting subsections (1), (2) and (3) and substituting the following subsections:

“(1)  The Ordinances specified in Part I of the Schedule are repealed.

“(1A)  The Ordinances specified in Part II of the Schedule are repealed.

“(2)  Where, after the date of commencement of Part IV, a child is convicted of an offence in proceedings instituted before that date, the court in which the proceedings were heard may make such orders in relation to the child as the court could have made if the proceedings had been instituted after that date.

“(3)  Where, immediately before the date of commencement of Part VI, a child was a ward within the meaning of the Child Welfare Ordinance 1957, there shall be deemed to have been made, on that date, an order under section 80 that the child be made a ward of the Director.”;

(b)by omitting from subsection (4) “commencement date” and substituting “date of commencement of Part VII”; and

(c)by omitting subsection (6).

Schedule

3.  The Schedule to the Children’s Services Ordinance 1986 is amended by adding at the end of Part I:

“Child Welfare (Amendment) Ordinance 1985

Child Welfare (Amendment) Ordinance 1987”.
