Act 1998 No 158—Proclamation

GORDON SAMUELS, Governor I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Children and Young Persons Legislation (Repeal and Amendment) Act 1998, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 18 December 2000 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:

(a) Children (Care and Protection) Act
1987, except for the following provisions:

section 3 (1), in so far as it repeals the Part 8 and Schedules 1, 1A, 2A and 3,

(b) section 3 (2), (c) section 3 (3),

(d) Schedule 1 (except Schedule 1 [5]),

(e)

Schedule 2 (except Schedule 2.2 [1], 2.6 [1], 2.9, 2.10, 2.13, 2.14, 2.17, 2.19, 2.22–2.24 and 2.26) and section 5, in so far as it applies to the provisions of Schedule 2 that are commenced by this proclamation.

Explanatory note

The object of this proclamation is to commence provisions of the Children and Young Persons Legislation (Repeal and Amendment) Act 1998 No 158 as a consequence of the commencement of certain provisions of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998 No 157 by a proclamation published in this edition of the Government Gazette.
