An Act to amend section 83 of the Child Welfare Act, 1939, as a consequence of the enactment of the Crimes (Compensation) Amendment Act, 1984, and the Criminal Injuries Compensation (Amendment) Act, 1984. [Assented to, 27th June, 1984.]

Child Welfare {Criminal Injuries Compensation) Amendment.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the "Child Welfare (Criminal Injuries

Compensation) Amendment Act, 1984".

Commencement.

(1) Sections 1, 2 and 4 shall commence on the date of assent to this (2) Except as provided by subsection (1), this Act shall commence on the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2) of the Crimes (Compensation) Amendment Act, 1984.	Act.

3.      The Child Welfare Act, 1939, is amended in the manner set forth in

Schedule 1.

Repeal.

4. This Act is repealed on the day on which section 83 of the Child

Welfare Act, 1939, is repealed.

(Sec. 3.)

AMENDMENTS TO THE CHILD WELFARE ACT, 1939.

(1) Section 83 ( 4 B ) —

Omit "The provisions of subsections three, four, five and six of section five hundred and fifty-four", insert instead "The provisions of section 554 (subsections (1) and (2) excepted)".

(2) Section 83 ( 4 D ) —

Omit the subsection.
