Act N o . 28 , 1980 .

An Act to amend section 37 of the Child Welfare Act. 1939, to remove the reference therein to magisterial inquiries. [Assented to, 16th April, 1980.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1.      This Act may be cited as the "Child Welfare (Coroners)

Amendment Act, 1980".

2.       (1) Except as provided in subsection ( 2 ) , this Act shall

commence on the date of assent to this Act.

(2) Section 3 shall commence on the day appointed and

notified under section 2 (2) of the Coroners Act, 1980.

3. The Child Welfare Act, 1939, is amended by omitting

section 37 (2) and by inserting instead the following subsection :—

(2) The officer in charge of police shall make inquiry

and report to a coroner concerning the death.
