An Act to amend the Child Support (Adoption of Laws) Act 1990.

[Assented to 31 October 2007]

The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

Child Support (Adoption of Laws) Amendment Act 2007

s. 1

1.             Short title

This is the Child Support (Adoption of Laws) Amendment Act

2007.

2.             Commencement

This Act comes into operation as follows:

(a)	sections 1 and 2 — on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent (“assent day”);
(b)	section 6 — on 1 January 2008;
(c)	section 7 — on 1 July 2008;
(d)	the rest of the Act — on the day after assent day.

3.             The Act amended

The amendments in this Act are to the Child Support (Adoption

of Laws) Act 1990*.

4.             Purpose of Act

The purpose of this Act is to provide that the adoption by the

Child Support (Adoption of Laws) Act 1990 of —

(a)

the Child Support (Registration and Collection) amended by the following Commonwealth Acts —

(i)      the Tax Laws Amendment (Repeal of Inoperative Provisions) Act 2006; and

(ii)

the Child Support Legislation Amendment Formula and Other Measures) Act 2006; and

Child Support (Adoption of Laws) Amendment Act 2007

s. 5

(iii) Indigenous Affairs and Veterans’ Affairs

the Families, Community Services and Act 2006; and

(iv) Indigenous Affairs Legislation Amendment

the Families, Community Services and Measures) Act 2007;

and

(b) the Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989 of the Commonwealth extends to that Act as amended by the following Commonwealth Acts —

(i)

the Child Support Legislation Amendment Formula and Other Measures) Act 2006; and

(ii)	Indigenous Affairs and Veterans’ Affairs the Families, Community Services and Act 2006; and
(iii)

the Families, Community Services and Budget and Other Measures) Act 2006; and

(iv) Indigenous Affairs Legislation Amendment

the Families, Community Services and Measures) Act 2007.

5.             Sections 3 and 4 amended

(1)

Sections 3(a) and 4(b) are each amended by deleting

“1 July 2006” and inserting instead —

“ 1 January 2007 ”.

(2)

Section 4(a) is repealed.
