Explanatory note

The object of this Regulation is to extend from 31 March 2018 to 30 June 2018 the date from which workers engaged in a certain category of child-related work are required to comply with Division 2 (Mandatory requirements for child-related work) of Part 2 of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.

This Regulation is made under the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012, including section 52
(the general regulation-making power) and clause 1 of Schedule 3.

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Child Protection (Working with Children) Amendment
(Compliance Period) Regulation 2018.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Child Protection (Working with Children) Regulation 2013

(1) Schedule 1 Savings and transitional provisions

Omit clause 2 (7) (a) (xi).

(2) Schedule 1, clause 2 (7A)
Insert after clause 2 (7):
(7A) 1 April 2017 to 30 June 2018 compliance period

On and from 30 June 2018, workers engaged in the following category of child-related work are required to comply with Division 2 of Part 2 of the Act:

children’s health services—hospitals and public health
services

work specified in clause 6 of this Regulation in hospitals and public health services provided by the Ambulance Service of New South Wales.
