Part 1            Preliminary

  1. Citation

This Determination may be cited as the Child Care Benefit (Specified Qualifications for Registered Carers) Determination 2000.

  1. Commencement

This Determination commences on 1 July 2000, immediately after the commencement of section 210 of the Act.

  1. Interpretation

  1. In this Determination the Act means the A New Tax System (Family Assistance) (Administration) Act 1999.

  1. Unless the contrary intention appears, expressions used in this instrument shall have the same meanings as in the primary legislation, and for this purpose “the primary legislation” means the Act and the A New Tax System (Family Assistance) Act 1999.

Part 2            Specified qualifications

  1. Specified qualifications

  1. An individual who does not meet the age requirement in subsection 210(2) of the Act must have a qualification of a kind specified in the following provisions of this section to be eligible to be approved as a registered carer.

  1. The qualifications referred to in subsection (1) above are qualifications of the following kinds:

(a)     child care;

(b)     nanny;

(c)home-based help.

  1. A qualification of a kind mentioned in subsection (2) above must be:

(a)issued by a training provider registered in a State or Territory as being accredited to issue such a qualification; and

(b)listed on the national database of qualifications, known as the National Training Information Service, which is maintained by the Australian National Training Authority.
